The Himalayan Race Route

Yes, this race is seriously the World’s Highest!

With a start point elevation of 3500 Mts, which is higher than the max elevation of any of the Ultra Races (currently, that we could find). Most of the race route remains above 3000 Mts, only briefly descending below that altitude. The Max elevation of the 1st edition is 4100 Mts and the total Elevation gain is 10350 Mts.

Starting in Leh, Ladakh the race route heads south briefly till Thiksey, turns around to head past Leh on NH1 headed for Srinagar. The route goes over Fotu La at 4100 mts on the way to Kargil and Dras only the return the same way. There are numerous challenges for which the race has been designed differently. To decide about the race cut-offs we compiled elevation data from a number of Ultra Races that are RQs. You can find it here – https://www.inspire-india.in/international-ultra-race-data/
